What is Yale Reserved?

Explore all the possibilities of Yale with Yale Reserved!

Yale Reserved is a Camp Yale Program designed for students who enjoy low-key events and time for reflection. Throughout our program we will introduce you to a variety of academic, wellness, and extracurricular resources at Yale. We recognize the transition to Yale has many unknowns, and we hope to create a space where you can familiarize yourself with the campus, create connections with your peers, and develop skills to flourish at Yale.

Yale Reserved isn’t about trying to change the way students present themselves. Instead, we want to highlight the opportunities you can take advantage of as a reserved student. Our program honors the different backgrounds students come from that influence their comfort in new spaces. Together, we will come up with ways to make the best of these next four years in a way that complements your values.

Join us if you’re looking for a chance to reflect on how far you’ve come and map out a wonderful future with supportive friends and counselors!

What happens during Yale Reserved?

During Yale Reserved you will interact and have meaningful conversations with other first-year students and counselors. You will discuss and develop approaches to public speaking, advocating for yourself, and building your professional, personal, and academic networks. In addition, you will have the opportunity to learn approaches to rejuvenating after high-energy engagements through exercise, meditation, and other wellness activities. Most importantly students will have fun and meet new friends! (Dani, Yale Reserved Counselor)

Yale Reserved is all about choice! In college, you are in the driver’s seat–this is the first step of deciding what you want your college career to look like. For that reason, we have many activity options based on your energy levels. Activities include cooking nights, workshops with professors, speed friending, poetry workshops, crafting, and time in nature. Students in the program are not expected to be busy all the time. We just want you to show up with an open mind and ready to have fun! Only some wellness and academic events will be required for all students, and they are crafted to best support you as you adjust to Yale. (JR, Yale Reserved Counselor)
